About

“My son-in-law was in excruciating pain from a dental condition and needed an emergency extraction, but he and my daughter did not have health insurance. He went to Hamilton and they took him right away, provided him with the proper anesthesia and gave excellent follow-up care. The people at Hamilton treated him like he was important, giving him compassionate, expedient, quality care. They treat everyone with respect at Hamilton Community Health Network.”

Vision & Mission

To be the leader in providing comprehensive quality, community-oriented health care for the underserved of Genesee County.

History

Hamilton Community Health Network (HCHN), formerly known as Hamilton Family Health Center, was established in 1982 by St. Joseph's Hospital (now Genesys Health System) as a response to the unmet medical needs of the low income and minority populations primarily on the north side of Flint. The center offered medical, dental and social services and operated in a facility on Hamilton Avenue during the first six years of its existence.

In 1988, the center moved to its present and main location at 4001 North Saginaw Street. Also in 1988, the center began receiving Health Care for the Homeless funding to address the growing needs of the homeless population. On February 1, 2001, Hamilton Family Health Center officially changed its name to Hamilton Community Health Network, Inc.

Hamilton Community Health Network assumed the financial and operational responsibility from Hurley Medical Center, for primary and preventive care and related services provided at their North Pointe facility. In December of 2002, HCHN began operations at our combined medical-dental site, a partnership with Genesee County Health Department, to offer a multitude of services such as family planning, immunizations for children and adults, pregnancy testing and counseling and pediatric services to an area of the city that lacked access to medical care.

Over 20 years of service offering a caring trained, certified staff that is concerned with the management of chronic and acute disease, oral health management, health promotion and disease prevention. HCHN is in a position to become a leader of primary care to the underserved population of this county.
