Expressing Gratitude and Celebrating Success: Reflecting on National Health Center Week

Thank you to everyone who joined us during the inspiring National Health Center Week, a time dedicated to commemorating our patients and embracing the spirit of community. The week was filled with events that celebrated both our patients and the vibrant community we are privileged to serve. With the invaluable support of our local sponsors, we achieved a remarkable feat – delivering free events and essential services that touched the lives of over nearly 1,000 individuals.

Initiating the week’s festivities, we hosted an impactful event: Healthcare for the Homeless. Our dedicated Hamilton-Flint staff played a pivotal role by offering blood pressure checks and introducing the comprehensive services available on the second floor of the Center for Hope, including primary care, behavioral health, and addiction treatment services. Attendees were graciously provided with essentials such as soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer, socks, and underwear. The collaborative efforts of Catholic Charities and Center for Hope enabled attendees to access free laundry facilities, a gesture that was complemented by a sumptuous meal from Houstonz Takeout. This event was a resounding success, exemplifying our commitment to giving back to the community that sustains us.

Moving forward, we held our first Good Food Giveaway at North Pointe clinic in partnership with Flint Fresh. Families were treated to an abundance of fresh produce that tantalized the senses – bell peppers, potatoes, lettuce, greens, corn, cucumbers, celery, peaches, blueberries, and more, all glowing with farm-fresh goodness. This event also included games for all ages and a refreshing treat from Kona Ice, making it a truly delightful occasion for all participants.

The pinnacle of our celebrations arrived with Family Fun Day, a grand Friday event that teemed with more fun activities. This day was a testament to our commitment to nurturing the well-being of families and individuals alike. With prizes, resources from our esteemed community partners and sponsors, and a delectable lunch courtesy of BDogs, the day was filled with laughter and camaraderie. Music, ice cream, basketball, and an invigorating obstacle course added to the festive atmosphere. An exceptional highlight was the introduction of the University of Michigan Health Mobile Mammography unit, which marked its debut at Hamilton. This unit, set to make monthly appearances starting this September, represents a significant resource that will benefit our patients and the broader community.

The participation we witnessed during this week was the largest seen in recent years – since COVID forced us to stay home. We hope you had the opportunity to be part of these experiences and took home cherished memories. For a visual journey through these events, we invite you to explore the snapshots captured below and on our website. As we reflect on National Health Center Week, we extend our gratitude to all those who contributed to its success.
