Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) recently extended the deadline for June Medicaid Redeterminations. If you were required to submit your renewal packets by June 30th, the deadline has now been extended to the end of July. It's important to note that this extension only applies to deadlines in June.
If your renewal deadline was originally set for June 30th, we strongly encourage you to submit your packet as soon as possible. Even if you believe you may no longer qualify, it is crucial that you still send it in, as some members of your family may still be eligible while others may not. For example, a child may be eligible for MiChild, even if their parent is not eligible for other Medicaid programs.
Medicaid beneficiaries are required to renew their coverage, which had been on hold since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The renewal process will be staggered and will continue until May 2024. If you are a Medicaid recipient, it is important to ensure that your contact information is up to date so that you do not miss any communication from MDHHS. This is the time to log into your MIBridges.gov account to update your information and be prepared to complete your redetermination.
Once again, even if you anticipate losing your coverage, it is still advisable to go through the renewal process. You may be pleasantly surprised to discover that you can retain your coverage or obtain coverage for your children.
