Hamilton Wants to Connect You with Services at Community Outreach Day

Due to a shortage of affordable housing, the homeless crisis has deepened in Genesee County. Shelters are at capacity. Residents are sleeping on the streets and in abandoned houses. Hamilton Community Health Network (HCHN) is uniquely positioned to provide healthcare services to those who need it the most. On Tuesday, August 9, 2022, HCHN, in partnership with Catholic Charities, will host Community Outreach Day. Our goal is to reach the homeless and provide essentials to assist them as they navigate the part to quality affordable housing.

To address the physical needs of this population, HCHN will provide socks, underwear, hygiene kits, drawstring backpacks, water, snack, a hot meal. It is important that people understand that there is an organization that cares about everyone in the community. Catholic Charities will provide laundry services, hot showers, access to the clothing pantry, and other resources that can speed up the process to become housed again. Together, we want to reduce the number of homeless in our community.

HCHN will also be on hand to provide health screenings, insurance enrollment, COVID-19 vaccines, and appointments for medical, behavioral health, and substance use disorder. HCHN’s clinic located in the Center for Hope uniquely positions us to provide quality healthcare services in the heart of the homeless corridor. This eliminates barriers to transportation and brings to the services to the people where they congregate and feel safe.
