Unwinding for Medicaid – Get Ready to Renew

IMPORTANT CHANGES ARE COMING TO MICHIGAN MEDICAID ELIGIBILITY

At the start of the Pandemic, Congress enacted the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which meant that Medicaid was required to keep people continuously enrolled through the end of the pandemic. This past December, Congress set an end to this provision for March 31, 2023. This means beginning April 1st, Medicaid recipients will need to begin the ‘redetermination’ process or lose coverage.

Michigan will begin this 12-month process in April 2023.

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

  1. Confirm your contact information.  Go to Michigan.gov/MIBridges to update your mailing address, phone number, email, and other contact information. If you do not update your information, you could risk a lapse in your health coverage.
  2. Watch for your letter. You will receive a letter from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). You will then need to follow the instructions laid out for you in the letter on how to complete your renewal form.
  3. We Are Here to Help. Our expert insurance enrollment team can walk you through every step to help you understand the various options of insurance coverage you qualify for. For instance, if you no longer qualify for Medicaid, you may qualify for coverage through the marketplace or other options.
