Hamilton Community Health Network is reminding the uninsured in Genesee and Lapeer counties to take advantage of the healthcare open enrollment period that is now live. Between November 1st and January 15th, those without healthcare coverage are eligible to enroll for a health insurance plan through Healthcare.gov.
Tim McCarron, Outreach and Enrollment Lead Specialist at Hamilton, talks to uninsured people every day and helps them get enrolled in healthcare. “We understand that it can be confusing to find the right plan for your needs. Everybody’s financial and health situation is different, but that’s where I come in,” says Tim. His job is a unique one – part of his time is spent helping people get enrolled in healthcare coverage, while the other half is spent in the community informing people of Hamilton services, making sure people know there are healthcare services available to them, even if they are not currently covered by insurance.
“Many people avoid going to the doctor or dentist because they can’t afford to without insurance, and it’s easily avoidable by enrolling in a government-subsidized healthcare plan,” said Tim. “Nobody should have to go without healthcare.” Healthcare.gov estimates that 4 out of 5 people will be eligible for a healthcare plan costing $10 or less per month.
Anyone in Genesee or Lapeer County is welcome to contact Hamilton Community Health Network for help getting enrolled, even if they are not currently a Hamilton patient. Call the Enrollment Assistance hotline at (810) 787-5097 or visit Hamilton’s webpage and submit a request form here.
